Unfortunately, one person has been killed due to the effects of Tropical Storm Chris churning the seas just over one-hundred miles off the coast of the Outer Banks. After being reported missing Saturday afternoon, lifeguards found the missing man — aged in his 60s — about fifteen minutes later in the water. Rescue crews performed CPR on the man in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina where he was found, but he was later pronounced dead at the hospital due to drowning.

Rip currents can be to blame for this drowning. Red flags were flying at the beach on Saturday, indicating that the beach is closed for swimming.

According to The Outer Banks Voice, this is the fifth person to die while swimming off an Outer Banks beach this summer.
